Palestinian leadership demands implementation of resolutions 242 and 338
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/13/1999

The Palestinian leadership emphasized the importance of the Palestinian and Israeli sides adhering to United Nations Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 to reach the current negotiations regarding causes of the final status to its aspired end.

The leadership said there is no way to achieve a real and comprehensive peace except through applying the two resolutions, urging in a statement that was issued after its weekly meeting in Ramallah city under the chairmanship of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat Israel to stop completely the settlement activities.

The leadership said the final status negotiations will convene two meetings per week, while in the transitional negotiations the Palestinian delegation asked the Israeli side to form the joint committee to discuss the third stage of redeployment and raise the issues of releasing the rest of the captives and implementing economic resolutions.
