Rights protection center project presented to Youssoufi
Morocco, Culture, 11/13/1999
A delegation of the International Council for the reintegration of torture victims on Friday presented to Moroccan Prime Minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, a project to set up in Morocco a center for the reintegration of the victims of torture.
The center, to cover the Maghreb and the Middle-East, will be an important independent body for the protection of human rights.
The delegation members lauded Morocco's evolution and voiced admiration for the political experience underway in Morocco. Such an experience serves as a model for the Arab and Islamic countries, they said.
For his part, Youssoufi voiced interest in the action led since 1960's by international non-governmental organizations for the reintegration of the victims of torture and the prevention of such practice.
He highlighted the positive and concrete decisions made by Morocco for the promotion of human rights. The management of public affairs is, per se, a daily struggle for the consolidation of democracy, he said.
