Iraq, Politics, 11/13/1999

Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan expressed yesterday Baghdad's refusal of any decision by the UN that does not aim at lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq and that does not condemn the continuing UK - US attacks against Iraq.

He added that the awareness of the Iraqi people and the Arab people's support for them had a great influence in the "failure of the aggression," and expressed his trust that the Iraqi people will be able to end the sanctions imposed since 1990 by their courage and patience.

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Aziz said on last Saturday that Iraq opposses any discussion in the Security Council that does not call for the complete lifting of the emabrgo.
