Saudi Arabia denies hosting reconciliation negotiations among conflicted parties in Sudan
Saudi Arabia-Sudan, Politics, 11/13/1999

Saudi Arabia denied yesterday news repeated regarding its suggestion of hosting reconciliation's negotiation among the Sudanese government and the different opposition factions.

Saudi official sources said that there is no initiative by Saudi Arabia to host a meeting for the reconciliation -- clarifying that the matter is an initiative from the Sudanese opposition and that it is the one that has a proposal from the government of starting the negotiations in the Saudi lands.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mostafa Othman Ismail assured that Saudi Arabia suggested hosting the Sudanese reconciliation negotiations.

On the other hand, Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir renewed his suggestion of a comprehensive pardon for the armed opposition.

El-Bashir suggested that the opposition to Khartoum's system return to Sudan and participate in the national construction.
