Libyan president confers with Ugandan President

Talks between Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni held in Tripoli dealt with issues of mutual concern on various levels.
In a joint statement released on Thursday evening at the conclusion of the visit held by the Ugandan president to Libya, the two sides welcomed the agreements reached in the Congo. They also praised the peace agreement of Syrte for peace Africa's Great Lakes area and urged sides concerned to settle their disputes and abide by the agreement that has been finalized.
The two sides also expressed their concern over the situation in Somalia and stressed their joint determination to end these conflicts during the coming year which is designated by the Organization of African Unity as a year of peace in Africa.
The Ugandan president also hailed the efforts exerted by Gaddafi to solve the dispute between Uganda and Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Libyan president also met with former Indian Prime Minister Komal Gojral, currently visiting Libya.
The two sides stressed the importance of continued backing for the deeply-rooted relations between the Arab states and India.
Gaddafi also met with the chief of staff of the Niger republic currently visiting Libya with an accompanying delegation.
