Morocco to take bids on highway construction from private sector
Morocco, Business, 11/12/1999
Morocco will launch shortly an international bid call to sell to private operators, for the first time, the building of a highway in northern Morocco.
Moroccan Equipment Minister Bouamour Taghouane announced on Thursday that the government will be increasingly opting for a larger involvement of the private sector in the management and operation of roads.
The minister, who was speaking at a conference on new financing modes of road infrastructures, said the national highway company, set up in 1989, has received loans, but this financing system did not fully associate the private sector in the construction of roads.
