Lahoud: Peaceful intentions are not shown in aggressions and detentions
Lebanon, Politics, 11/12/1999

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud stated that peaceful intentions are not shown in the "daily aggressions with different assassination style and continuing imprisonment (of Lebanese) in the detention camps."

Lahoud referred in statements yesterday to celebrating "the detained teacher's day" that Lebanon could not overlook for a second the torture of the Lebanese people whom are deprived of their liberties and kept away from their families.

He added that the Lebanese who are still captives in the prisons of the Israeli occupation because of defending their lands are giving daily lessons to the international conscience in nationalism and adhering to rights.

He added that they form clear evidence of Israel's violation of international charters and underestimation of humanitarian values.
