European Union delegation concludes visit to Sudan
Sudan-European Union, Politics, 11/12/1999

A delegation from the European Union authorized to hold a discussion with the Sudanese government regarding relations between the two sides left Khartoum today.

The delegation is headed by the manager of the administration of Middle East and North African affairs in the Finnish Foreign Ministry, as his country is the head of the union's current session.

Hassan Abdin, the first undersecretary of the Sudanese Foreign Ministry and head of the Sudanese side in the discussions, which lasted for 2 days, said these meetings are considered a resumption of the halted discussions between the two sides since 1994, due to the accusations addressed by some European countries and civil organizations to Sudan of practicing terrorism and violating human rights and what followed this of imposing an economic and diplomatic sanctions on his country.
