First member of Israeli Knesset visits Beit El-Shark
Palestine, Politics, 11/12/1999

Yossi Katz, a member of the Israeli Knesset for the Labor Party, met yesterday in Beit El-Shark (the Orient House) in occupied Arab Jerusalem with Faisal El-Hssueini, a member of the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the Palestinian official in charge of the Jerusalem file in the first visit paid by a member of the Israeli Knesset to Beit Shark, which raises the Palestinian flag amid Jerusalem city.

El-Husseini said the meeting reviewed some issues that concern the two sides, the historical stages of Beit El-Shark, and the role it plays in supporting the peace process.

The Knesset member made a tour during his meeting with officials and El-Husseini in Beit El-Shark that included the association of Arabic studies, the center of social and civil rights studies, the department of foreign affairs, the information department and the Palestinian tradition museum.
