Declaring the prizes of Sousse festival for youth and children's cinema
Tunisia-International, Culture, 11/11/1999
The fourth festival for youth and children's films concluded yesterday in the Tunisian city of Sousse with the participation of 200 films --long, short, and animated cartoons-- that represent nearly 60 countries.
27 films participated in the official competition from 18 countries, while the rest of the films were displayed in the festival's different departments.
Two films shared the gold prize --the Argentinean film Small Miracles and the French Keerko, which previously won a prize from the Cairo festival for the children's cinema in March.
In the short film competition for youths, the Tunisian film Coblwat, directed by Meza Bahr Wahjait, won the prize.
Tunisian director Mohammed Mahfuz headed the arbitration committee, which granted recognition certificates for two films --Shambra from Holland and The Forges from Belgium.
