Israeli Cabinet agrees to withdraw from new lands
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/11/1999
Israeli Cabinet agreed yesterday to withdraw from new areas making up 5% of the West Bank and to deliver these areas to the Palestinian government , according to the Sharm El-Sheikh accord.
This decision coincides with angry protests from Jewish settlers whom were expelled by force from Ma'on settlement near Hebron.
The settlers and their supporters organized protests against the Israeli government's policy.
The Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank is to start on November 15, which will leave the Israeli settlements as isolated islands which could increase the tensions between the settlers and the Palestinians.
