President al-Assad gets a message from Jordan's king

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Wednesday at the Damascus al-Shaab palace received Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib.
Al-Khatib conveyed to President al-Assad a message from Jordan's King Abdullah II.
The two sides discussed the recent developments in the region and current contacts being made by parties concerned with the Middle East peace process.
Present at the meeting was Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa.
Earlier in the day, al-Sharaa received the Jordanian foreign minister and King Abdullah's advisor, Samih al-Batteikhi.
Talks dealt with "developments in the region and bilateral relations between Syria and Jordan."
