Mediterranean inter-religious meeting in Spain

The third Mediterranean inter-religious meeting on education and culture is held this Wednesday and Thursday in the Alcala de Henares University, 35 km northeast of Madrid.

The meeting will be crowned by the signing of a document on the creation of a network of universities in the Mediterranean to promote the culture of peace from the platform of Palestinian, Arab and Israeli universities. This culture should be reflected in the syllabi as well as in the cultural activities of these universities that should promote exchanges and conviviality.

The meeting's organizers said the event is meant to be a process for rapprochement between the civil societies and a tool likely to contribute to the settlement of other problems in the region. It equally seeks to bring closer Palestinians and Israelis through dialogue and through the spiritual dimension.

A large Moroccan delegation, including Minister of Communication Larbi Messari, Moroccan ambassador to the UNESCO Aziza Bennani, and the deans of several universities, will take part in the meeting along with other ministers from Palestine and Israel, the European Union special envoy for the Middle East, Miguel Angel Moratinos, and the deans of several universities.
