Egyptian police officers tried for negligence in protecting President Mubarak

The disciplinary court in Cairo, Egypt started today the trial of generals and officers in the Egypatian police for not preventing Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's exposure to an attack in Port Said city with a knife two months ago.

Three generals and two colonels out of 14 were summoned up to be presented before the court.

President Mubarak, whose arm was slightly injured in the attack, told the Egyptian newspapers that those who are found negligent would be punished.

The 14 officers could be discharged them from their jobs.
