Libyan students against Mauritania's relations with Israel
Libya-Mauritania, Politics, 11/10/1999

The participants in student conferences in Libya have expressed their regret and condemnations as well as categorical rejection of the "strong violation" made by the government of Nouakchott in establishing diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv.

In a statement released on Monday night in Tripoli, the students considered the Mauritania's violation as a strong blow to the countries of North Africa, carried out by Mauritania without consulting the people of Mauritania and their political forces.

The Libyan students considered this "violation" as a dangerous disturbance of all obligations carried by Mauritania towards the Arab Maghreb Union and the basics of the common Arab action.

The Libyan students called all social strata in Mauritania to oppose what had been done by the government of Nouakchott.
