Arab League criticizes Barak's statements regarding resolution 242
Regional-Israel, Politics, 11/9/1999

The Arab League directed strong criticism at Israel yesterday due to Israeli Prime Minsiter Ehud Barak's latest stance toward UN Security Council resolutions. The Israeli prime minister spoke of not applying the resolution on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The Arab League said there will be "no real peace with Israel unless all the occupied Arab lands are returned and the Palestinian immigrant refugees come back home."

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid depicted Barak's statements as false allegations, clarifying in press statements yesterday that UN Security Council Resolution 242 was issued following Israel's occupation of the Arab lands, including the West Bank and Gaza Strip in June 1967.
