Algeria, Politics, 11/9/1999
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said the Islamic Salvation Front in Algeria will remain prohibited and he threatened that those who violate the law will be strongly punished.
In a statement to the Lebanese Future Television, he commented on reports of the Algerian Army's interference in the country's internal policies, saying that he does not accept a trusteeship from either the army or anyone else, relying in this on the Algerian people's trust.
Bouteflika said, "There is an accumulated corruption in Algeria from 20 years that is currently being fixed, yet it takes time."
Regarding relations with Morocco, the Algerian president indicated communications with the late Moroccan monarch, King Hassan which were very close to reaching a solution before his death.
