Iraq, Politics, 11/8/1999

Iraq reiterated its opposition to the discussions of the five permanent member states in the United Nations Security Council aimed at agreeing on a new draft resolution that aims at suspending the sanctions imposed on Iraq since 1990.

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Aziz said in statements yesterday during his reception of the Mariam convoy, that Iraq calls for a change in the proposals presented and that Iraq stands against such maneuvers, saying that the Iraqi people will go on resisting to defend their rights and independence.
