Mubarak, Chirac discuss peace

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and French President Jacques Chirac met yesterday to discuss the latest developments surrounding the Middle East peace process. The two sides agreed to coordinate their stances toward peace.
"The Oslo three-way meeting which grouped US President Bill Clinton, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak aimed at implementing Sharm El-Sheikh memorandum," President Mubarak said.
"The three leaders agreed to set up certain committees to probe all details, and we are exerting our utmost to propel the peace process," he added.
French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine is to start a regional tour on Thursday that will include Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. The tour will focus on the Middle East peace process.
