Demand releasing the detained members of the Sudanese followers' front
Sudan, Politics, 11/6/1999

The secretary general of the Front of the Sudanese Followers' Affairs, Abd El-Hamid Abu, called today for releasing the detained followers, saying that they were detained after the inspection of opposition leader Sadek El-Mahdi's house in Om Durman a week ago. He also called for canceling the restricted law for liberties.

He called for releasing all the political detainees, and he blamed the government for the escalating Sudanese crisis and the danger in Sudan. He also condemned foreign interference, saying that the government is the reason behind the foreign intervention because of its treatment of its citizens.

He added that, "Danger surrounds Sudan that requires quick and effective procedures by the government to persuade the opposition of its seriousness in the comprehensive political solution."
