Crisis between the settlers and Barak
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/6/1999
Things deteriorated yesterday between the Israeli settlers and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak due to their refusal to evacuate the settlements as Barak specified, while another group of settlers started establishing new settlements in the occupied Arab lands.
There are 12 settlement locations Israel has deemed illegal in the occupied lands on the mountains and hills in the West Bank.
The Jewish settlers have evacuated only 5 locations out of the 12 Barak specified.
The settlers justified not evacuating the remaining seven by saying they are inhabited and it requires a long time and coordination with the government to evacuate.
