Morocco-Equatorial Guinea, Politics, 11/5/1999
President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea said his country backs Morocco's bid to host the final rounds of the 2006 World Cup.
Morocco, as an African nation, can legitimately claim the right to host the World Cup, President Mbasogo said at a meeting in Rabat with members of the Maroc-2006 Association, which promotes Morocco's bid.
The Equatorial Guinean president is on a private visit to Morocco, during which he was received by King Mohammed VI.
Morocco is competing with South Africa, Germany, England and Brazil to host the World Cup.
