Trial starts of Lebanese musician for abusing the holy Quran

The trial of Lebanese singer and musician Marcel Khalife started in Beirut on charges of abusing the holy Quran, as one of its verses was included in the lyrics of one of his songs.
Khalife is facing an imprisonment penalty that might reach three years in case of conviction.
Khalife denied the charge and condemned the trial which is urged by some religious leaders and described it as unjustified.
Khalife also urged politicians, writers and the public to support the cancellation of the trial.
