Regional, Politics, 11/4/1999

It was announced in Cairo on Tuesday Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid will hold by the end of the current month an Arab tour which will cover Syria and Qatar, during which he will meet with high-ranking officials in the two states.

AL sources said that Abdul Meguid will take part during his visit to Syria in the works of the 10th conference of the international federation of Arab trade unions, which will start on November 29 in Damascus.

During his visit to Qatar, the AL chief will hold talks with the ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani, on the current Arab conditions.

The sources continued that there are arrangements to include in the AL chief's tour other Arab Gulf states. These arrangements have not been agreed upon yet, SANA reported.
