Libyan official sources stated yesterday the contents of the message conveyed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa to Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi included discussing taking a joint stance toward the Mauritanian decision to establish complete diplomatic relations with Israel without consulting the Mauritanian people and without considering the Arab interests that will be harmed by this decision, adding that Gaddafi received similar messages from the Moroccan, Sudanese, Tunisian and Algerian foreign ministers. The Libyan sources depicted the Mauritanian stance as a blow to the Arab Maghreb Union member states, which include Mauritania. Go

Egyptian businessmen Mohammed Nosair stated that he will produce French Renault cars in Cairo for the first time at a cost of $20 million and that the first production of these cars will take place in the first half of next year. He said Renault will be a partner in the project with a large share of the capital that is not yet determined and that the prevailing styles in Egypt will be produced, which are Renault and Megane, with a producion capacity of 600 cars annually. He added that he hopes to obtain 10% of the Egyptian market annually. Go

Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi on Monday in Tripoli received Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmad Attaf and Tunisian Foreign Minister Saeed Bin Mustafa, who are currently visiting Libya. Talks during the meeting dealt with the measures taken by Mauritania in establishing diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv that the Arab League has condemned as a violation of its decision and as harmful to the unity of the Arab ranks. The Jordanian of parliament on Monday reelected Abdul Hadi al-Majali as a speaker of parliament for a second term. This was done in the session held by the parliament on Monday in the framework of inaugurating the new ordinary session of the Jordanian Nation's Council, which is composed of the Parliament speaker and al-Ayan council (the upper house). Al-Majali won by the majority of 50 votes out of 76 after four votes were canceled. His rival, Amjad Hazza had 26 votes. Go

Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss headed to Saudi Arabia for a four-day visit, during which he will meet with Saudi Arabia's King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. He is also to participate in meetings of the government council of the Islamic Development Bank in order to get support for Lebanese development projects. Go

Algeria has reiterated its position opposing normalization with Israel as long as the Golan is occupied, Israel has not unconditionally withdrawn from south Lebanon and the Palestinians have not established their own independent state on their own native soil. A well-informed Algerian source said in a statement to the Algerian News Agency on Monday that any "suspicion" toward the clear Algerian stand comes from sources which "know nothing about the Algerian policy which gave priority to defending principles before interests." The secretary of the people's committee for foreign relations and international cooperation in Libya (the foreign minister), Omar al-Muntasir, met on Monday in Tripoli with his Gabonese counterpart Jean Ping, currently visiting Libya. Go

Four people, an engineer and three miners, were killed in a fire that broke out Monday in a coal mine in Jerada, Morocco. The four people were suffocated by the smoke of the fire that broke out at a 800-meter depth. Go
