Mauritania accuses Baghdad of preparing for revenge against it
Mauritania, Politics, 11/2/1999

Mauritania declared its fear of sabotage against its interests as a result of opening an embassy in Tel Aviv, and it accused Baghdad of preparing for these acts, a matter which was confirmed by the Mauritanian minister of interior, who said that Baghdad tries to cary out acts of sabotage against Mauritania's interests in an attempt to "force us to back off from our historic decision."

Mauritanian sources in Cairo stated that Mauritania will inform unspecified major countries about the Iraqi attempts, and its has asked these countries to move to stop the Iraqi terrorism against Mauritania.

Independent Mauritanian sources said that sabotage might be carried out by the Islamic group in Mauritania against the government and that Baghdad has nothing to do with it.
