Kharazi to visit Damascus on Saturday

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi is due to arrive on Saturday in Damascus to inform Syrian President Hafez al-Assad about the results of Iranian President Mohammed Khatami's discussions in France regarding the peace process and to inform him of the results of his meeting with French President Jacques Chirac.

Iranian sources told ArabicNews.com today that Kharazi carries a written message from Khatami to President al-Assad that tackles the developments in the region and Syrian - Iranian coordination toward the current events in the area.

The sources added that Kharazi will meet with his Syria counterpart, Farouk al-Sharaa, and they will discuss France's stance in the peace process and Mauritania's establishment of high-level diplomatic relations with Israel at a time when Israel occupies Arab lands.
