Lebanese resistance operation against Israeli forces
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 11/2/1999

One Lebanese resistance group on Monday rocketed an Israeli military force while entering the Tebeh position inside the occupied part of south Lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said it was able to hit vehicles from the force and its members. The statements added that another Lebanese resistance group attacked, using machine guns and rockets, the military movements of the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia inside al-Burj position.

One SLA militia man was wounded as a result of the attack, the statement said, adding that an explosive charge was detonated by the Lebanese resistance against Zamraya crossing where the SLA troops are stationed.

Earlier in the day, the Lebanese resistance forces attacked the Israeli occupation forces' positions in the al-Qaseir and al-Salaa areas inside the occupied part of south Lebanon and the Lebanese resistance forces were able to score direct hits against the two positions.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes continued their sorties over south Lebanon's airspace.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli warplanes raided al-Tuffah district and dropped missiles at the target area between Ein Bouswar and Jarjou towns as well as Mleita hill. The sources also continued that Israeli raiding planes dropped missiles on the al-Sawannah area in south Lebanon and that these planes were subjected to Lebanese anti-aircraft gunfire.

Meanwhile, the Israeli warplanes twice broke the sound barrier over the capital, Beirut, the Lebanese sources said, adding that the planes carried out provocative raids against south Lebanon and the western Bekaa.

Further reports from south Lebanon said that two Lebanese youths were wounded in the area close to Yater town as a result of a blast of explosive charges planted by the Israeli occupation forces, Lebanese security sources said.

The sources continued that the troops arrested a Lebanese civilian in Rashaya al-Fakhar and sent him to Khiam prison on charges of aiding the Lebanese resistance.

On Sunday, the Israeli naval forces arrested five Lebanese fishermen in Tyre and seized a cargo ship near the coast.

Moreover, the Israeli forces continued their attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon and the western Bekaa.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery positioned in the hill of al-Sharekia and the Abu Qamha valley bombarded the Lebanese towns of Burket al-Jabbour, Abu Rashid and al-Qatrani mountains in the western Bekaa.

Meanwhile, the pro-Israeli SLA militia carried out a mopping-up operation, using heavy machine guns and rockets.

The Lebanese security sources added that the Israeli artillery shelled the hills and heights of al-Tuffah district, especially al-Rafee mountain, Mleita hill and the Litani and al-Zahrani river area and al-Tasse spring area. The Israeli jets also carried out intensified mock and provocative raids over south Lebanon and the Bekaa areas.
