GCC secretary commends China's role in strengthening world peace and security

The secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Sheikh Jamil al-Hujeilan has commended the remarkable role played by China in backing Arab issues and its desire to strengthen world peace and security.

In a statement he made following his meeting with Chinese President Jiang Zemin in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, al-Hujeilan said he reviewed with the Chinese President relations linking the GCC member states and China and means of strengthening and fostering them especially in economic areas.

The GCC secretary general added that he had reviewed with President Zemin the previous meetings Sheikh al-Hujeilan made with several Chinese officials on ways of strengthening relations in the interests of the GCC and China.
