Morocco lays foundation stone for large sports compound in Tangiers

A ministerial delegation on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a $30 million sports complex in the northern city of Tangiers.
The compound, to be built by Hercules International Sports Tangiers over 11 hectares, has a 10,000-seat cricket stadium, an omnisport hall, a 120-bed club house, a six-court tennis complex and a trade center.
The project, financed by the United Arab Emirates, will generate 1,500 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect ones.
The project also includes the rehabilitation of the Tangiers golf club at $2 billion.
