There is no progress in the peace process that requires establishing diplomatic relations with Israel, Arab League

Official sources in the Arab League said yesterday reiterating the position of Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid which he stated lately regarding the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Mauritania and his description of this procedure as coming at an inappropriate time, which is a stance based on Arab League decision No 5629 for 1997.
The sources added, "This decision that was issued by the Arab foreign ministers stated on urging the Arab countries to stop normalization steps with Israel in the framework of the current peace process and to stop dealing with it, including closing the offices and missions so that Israel submits to the reference of the Madrid conference and the land-for-peace principle."
The sources asked, "Are not Ehud Barak's nos toward the peace process and Jerusalem in particular a clear back off of the peace references in addition to the non-existence of a real progress on the Lebanese - Syrian peace track?"
