Jordan-Iraq-UK, Politics, 11/1/1999
A British Parliament member for the Labor Party, George Galloway, and members of the accompanying delegation arrived on Saturday evening in Aqaba city for a five-day visit to Jordan, during which he will meet with several Jordanian officials and people's activists.
The visit of Galloway, who is also the deputy chairman of the foreign affairs committee at the British House of Commons, to Jordan falls in the course of a tour which included France, Spain, the Arab Maghreb states and Egypt with the objective of lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq through raising backing and collecting material donations and meetings with the representatives of peoples, governments and countries covered by the tour.
Galloway is accompanied by several British members of the house of commons, British intellectuals, the chairman of the Arab Bar Association Society in Britain and Arab and international figures.
Today Galloway and his companions will arrive in Amman, after it has passed through several provinces in southern Jordan. On next Friday night he will leave Amman for Iraq.
