King Mohammed renews pledge to reform administration

King Mohammed VI on Friday renewed a pledge to reform the administration to ensure a better performance.

This came in a message to participants in a national colloquy on "Ethics in the public service."

The king urged the establishment to better awareness of time management as a key factor in due processing of people's affairs. He underlined that honest staff of the public service would be motivated for better daily performance.

Tackling people's problems as they come, sparing users endless red tape would be a major gain which, in fact, joins Islamic teachings as to daily behavior and being of service to others out of ethical convictions, the message reads.

The rule of the law and democracy require values of responsibility, self-denial and total respect for the rights of citizens whose interests should not be compromised out of lack of care, procrastination or delay, the king said.

King Mohammed VI recalled his October 12 address in Casablanca expounding a new concept for authority and the need for reforms in management methods, optimal use of competence, potential and equipments to open a new era for the smooth interaction between investors and relevant administrations.

To reach these goals, the royal message says, the bill requiring top executives to file statements on property ought to be reactivated to add up to the legal, educational and communication arsenal to contain abuse and bureaucracy and monitor careers, rewarding or sanctioning where and when necessary.
