El-Sana hopes for new Oslo
Regional-Israel, Politics, 10/30/1999
Taleb El-Sana, an Israeli Knesset member, expressed his hope of returning to a new Oslo, where the dialogue started between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
He said, "The aim of the trilateral summit between President Bill Clinton, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Premier Ehud Barak confirms a strong intention to achieve progress, improve the atmosphere, and inspire the confidence between the two parties."
He added, "There are statements confirming the Israeli commitment and implementation of the peace process" and in its decisions regarding the (removal) of the settlements continues given their illegal status which contradicts completely with the peace process and the Wye River accord which prevents unilateral steps. He added that this is reflected in "what is specified from the Israeli budgets for settlements and establishing industrial investment areas inside the settlements which also contradicts with peace."
