Head of Maryam convey for solidarity with Iraq accuses USA and Britain of duplicity in regional causes

George Galloway, a British parliamentary member and the head of the Maryam convoy for solidarity with Iraq, stated that the Iraqi people are exposed to a true slaughter.

During a meeting held yesterday in the headquarter of the journalists' syndicate in Cairo, he said, "According to the statistics announced by the United Nations, 7,000 Iraqi children die monthly in because of a lack of food," and medicine, regarding what happens in Iraq as "the 21st century's crime implemented by USA and Britain."

The aim of the convoy, which he and Arab - British personalities organized and which started from the British capital, London, passed through France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and reached Egypt. Its purpose is to inform world public opinion and the US and British governments of the public support lifting the sanctions from Iraq enjoys in the countries through which the convoy travels.

He also accused the USA and Britain of duplicity in tackling the causes of the Middle East, saying that Iraq, after nine years of sanctions and inspection, is considered by Washington and London as having weapons of mass destruction, while Israel is at the top of the nuclear, biological and chemical weapons' mountain.
