Egypt-USA, Politics, 10/30/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said today that Harry Johnston, the US special envoy to Sudan, said Washington desires consultation with Egypt to handle the situation in Sudan.
Moussa told ArabicNews.com that, "The discussions tackled following up the consultations that took place during the meeting of IGAD partners group in Rome lately, in which Egypt participated."
Moussa emphasized the importance of focusing and combining all efforts in an effort that will lead to establishing a discussion among the different Sudanese parties to reach a stance accepted by everyone that forms a jump in Sudan's relations with its neighbors as well as reaching a solution that takes into its consideration Sudan's territorial integrity which is a basic matter.
Moussa added that,"Washington supports discussions among all parties and reaching a new Sudan that takes into its consideration everybody's opinions," pointing out that this result "could not be reached by wars but through a peaceful political settlement."
