Papal envoy to visit Baghdad

Sources in Baghdad said that Father Roberto Toutchi, the official of organizing the visit of Pope John Paul II will arrive in middle of the coming month, pointing out that the Pope informed Iraq that he will not be able to visit Baghdad before the coming January.

The sources denied that the Pope informed Baghdad that he intends to cancel the visit, saying that the Pope was exposed to UK and US pressures under the pretext that it is not the proper time and that security in Baghdad is not stable.

The sources also added, "The reason for delaying the visit is due to the Vatican" and that it is their decision and the visit is "anticipated by every peace lover so that Iraq returns back to the world as it was before."
