Moroccan secretary of state for cooperation visits Poland and Czech Republic

Moroccan secretary of state for cooperation, Aicha Belarbi paid this October 24 through 28 a working visit to Poland.

The Moroccan official discussed with members of the Polish Cabinet, including Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, ways of enhancing bilateral political and economic relations.

Talks also covered international and regional issues of mutual concern as well as Morocco's relations with Europe.

Geremek who described Morocco as "a great partner and friend of Poland" called for upgrading bilateral cooperation.

The Polish foreign minister also hailed the leading role played by late King Hassan II and his charisma at regional and international scenes, with a special emphasis on his unfailing commitment to the Middle East peace process. He equally paid tribute to the wisdom of his successor, King Mohammed VI.

The Moroccan official, on her part, underlined the two countries' determination to energize economic cooperation and adapt them to the world juncture, mainly through the setting up of a free trade area.

She said the projected visit of the Polish premier, Jerzy Buzek, to Morocco evidences the East European country's resolve to enhance bilateral cooperation.

After her visit to Poland, the Moroccan official headed to the Czech Republic.

The visit to the Czech Republic will be crowned by the signing of a protocol of cooperation between the two countries' foreign departments.
