French president pays brief visit to Morocco

French President Jacques Chirac arrived in Rabat this Friday morning where he was received by King Mohammed VI.
After visiting the tomb of the late King Hassan II, Chirac is scheduled to hold private talks with the sovereign.
Chirac's visit is taking place a few days before the third annual meeting of the two countries' heads of government next November 4-5.
The two countries are expected to sign a package of cooperation agreements.
Meanwhile, French Premier Lionel Jospin will pay an official visit to Morocco next week to co-chair with his Moroccan peer, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, the third annual meeting of the two countries' heads of government, it was officially announced in Rabat today.
A statement by the prime minister's office said the two men will assess bilateral cooperation and look into prospects of economic, financial, commercial and cultural relations between Morocco and France.
The session will be crowned by the signing of several cooperation accords.
Jospin's party will include cabinet members, economic operators and journalists.
