LE 1.6 million for protecting Islamic monuments

The administration of the Supreme Council for Antiquities headed by Dr. Gaballah Ali Gaballah, the council's secretary general, agreed in its meeting yesterday to specify LE 550,000 for participating in the project to move 50 housing units from the ancient area in Sour Magra El-Eweon in Cairo in the framework of developing the area.
The Cairo government will pay the other half of the project's costs, which reach LE 1.15 million.
Moreover, the council agreed to register the annex of the El-Koba palace among the Islamic monuments, referring to its aesthetic and historical area. It was established by Ibrahim Pasha in 1815 and renewed during the reign of Khedive Ismail.
