Lebanon-Russia, Politics, 10/29/1999
The Russian ambassador in Lebanon, Oleg Bersbiken, has expressed his country's regret for the incident which claimed the life of the two Lebanese doctors Abdul Muttalib and Shadi Murtada in the Russian city of Rostov, in southern Russia.
He added that the "Russian embassy will give today entry visas to three Lebanese police officers to travel to Moscow and help in the investigation," while the general directorate for general security said that it had delegated officers for this purpose.
The Russian ambassador added in a press conference he held on Thursday in Beirut on the occasion of ending his term off office to Lebanon that, "The embassy did not receive any official report so far about the incident. But we have understood that there were not political or trade reasons behind it. It was rather a dispute among students. He stressed that his country is exerting all efforts for maintaining peace in the Middle East."
