Dutch parliamentary delegation in Damascus
Syria-Netherlands, Politics, 10/29/1999

The speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly, Abdul Qader Qaddoura, on Thursday in Damascus received a Dutch parliamentary delegation led by Margretta De Bueir that includes members of the political parties represented in the parliament.

Talks dealt with the situation in the region, the Middle East peace process and parliamentary relations between Syria and Holland.

Qaddoura highlighted the "history of democratic life in Syria and the stability it enjoys under al-Assad's leadership."

He stressed the Syrian commitment to a just and comprehensive peace that provides for restoring back the Arab lands and rights and ending the Israeli occupation and aggressions.

Earlier in the day, the minister of state for foreign affairs, Nasser Qaddiour, held a similar meeting with the Dutch parliamentary delegation.

Bilateral relations, means of boosting them and the Middle East peace process were reviewed.
