Moroccan wine production reaches unprecedented heights

The 1998-99 viticultural season recorded unprecedented production levels totalling 196,000 hectolitres, 66% more than the previous year. The weekly "La Vie Economique" which published the figures said this record production is a direct result of the promotion action plan launched in 1997 which called for a $80 million investment by the year 2000.
The plan targets a 600,000 hectolitre output, most of which is destined to export, domestic market and ageing.
