Increase in Tunisia's income due to tourism

Statements from the Tunisian central bank revealed yesterday an increase in the Tunisia's income due to tourism to 1.496 billion dinars ($1.17 billion) since the beginning of the current year until October 10 in comparison to 1.332 billion dinars during the same period of 1998.
Meanwhile, previous official expectations estimated the increase of the tourism revenues over the current year at more than 1.9 billion dinars. Tourism is the principle source of the hard currency in Tunis.
The net revenues of the hard currency in the Tunisian central bank reached 2.59 billion dinars ($2.29 billion) on October 10 in comparison to 1.98 billion dinars in the same period of last year.
The current reserves can cover the value of the imports for 94 days in comparison to 75 days last year.
