The Jordanian journalists' syndicate negates backing of dismissing 3 journalists
Jordan, Politics, 10/28/1999
The Jordanian journalists' union denied today that the syndicate's council has backed off from its former decision to dismiss three Jordanian journalists for violations of the union's decision not to travel to Israel or normalize relations with it, as they paid a visit to Israel last month.
In response to what was published by a Jordanian newspaper today about the syndicate backing off from its decision, Makhry Abu Hamda, the syndicate's director, said the decision to dismiss the three journalists was taken by the absolute majority, depending on the decisions of the Union of Arab Journalists and the union's general assembly banning normalization with Israel.
