Former South African President Nelson Mandela on Monday night called on Israel to withdraw from the Arab territories occupied in 1967. Press reports quoted Mandela as saying in a conference on peace and security currently being held in Atlanta that Israeli officials gave him during his recent visit to Israel an impression in that they are seriously considering giving up land for peace in the Middle East. Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on Tuesday inaugurated two projects to expand petrochemical factories in Yanbu city, west of Riyadh. Saudi Minister of Industry Hashed Bin Abdullah Yamani said the first project, whose costs are estimated at US $2.8 billion, is aimed at increasing ethylene production threefold. He continued that the second project, whose costs are estimated at US $101 million, will increase 1,200 tones of oxygen per year in the daily production of the petrochemical giant, SABEC. Go

US Defense Secretary William Cohen has renewed the backing of the US administration for Israel.
