Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 10/27/1999
Morocco's participation in the African Human Rights meeting in Algiers aims in the first instance to "consolidate relations between the two brotherly countries" under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and President Abdelaziz bouteflika.
The statement was made to the Algerian radio by minister of human rights and member of the Human Rights Advisory Council, Mohamed Aujjar who participated in Algiers in the second session of the coordination committee of African national institutions.
The Moroccan delegation will also present Morocco's experience to "African brothers, friends and peers, and inform them about the major gains scored by the kingdom in human rights matters," Aujjar said.
The delegation members wish to get informed about the achievements made by other African countries in the field.
The committee second session which started proceedings here on Tuesday is dealing with the promotion and protection of human rights in the continent.
The session discusses the consolidation of cooperation and coordination between african human rights institutions, especially in the prospect of a number of international meetings, mainly the meeting of the U.N human rights commission, and the world conference against racism and racial discrimination slated for 2001.
The event is attended by the host country Algeria, Cameroon, Malawi, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia and Zambia.
