Jordanian Senate speaker meets Youssoufi and Essaid
Morocco-Jordan, Politics, 10/27/1999

Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi met in Rabat Tuesday evening with visiting Jordanian Senate Speaker, Zayd Arrifai.

Youssoufi said the world community granted particular attention to succession in both countries which boast stability and confidence in the future under the wise leadership of their two young kings, King Mohammed VI of Morocco and King Abdallah Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan.

The two sides agreed to work actively for stronger Arab solidarity and integration in world environment.

In this respect, Arrifai and Senate Speaker Jalal Essaid voiced support for an Arab summit meeting to cement Arab ranks after a thorough review of Arab issues. They hailed existing ties and called for a more dynamic action by the Moroccan-Jordanian commission and for the setting up, in the near future, of a free-trade zone.

Arrifai invited wider coordination in every field and renewed his country's backing to Moroccan territorial integrity and hope the Sahara referendum would take place according to modalities and criteria defined by the international community and Houston agreements.

Arrifai also raised the same issues with minister in charge of relations with the Parliament, Mohamed Bouzoubaa.

The Jordanian Senate speaker, visiting through Oct 29, is bearing a message from the Jordanian king to King Mohammed VI.
