Iraqi opposition: Saddam Hussein's family sells their property in Iraq
Iraq, Politics, 10/27/1999

Iraqi opposition sources in Damascus said today that Baghdad witnessed during the last days a hectic race among members of Iraqi President Saddam Hussien's family and his supports to sell lands and commercial corporations and converting them to hard currency, due to which an increase took place in the dollar exchange prices in the local market.

A statement issued by the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, in Damascus yesterday said the reason for selling these properties is the fear of the approach of the end of the government after the security disorder and the escalation of resistance operations in Baghdad and the rest of southern and central cities.

The statement said these were properties owned by Iraqi citizens that were seized by members of the ruling family after the arrest or execution of these citizens under the pretext of opposing the government, or the owners were forced to sell it in cheap prices.
