Israel, Mauritania to exchange ambassadors shortly

An official source at the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that Israel decided to raise the level of its relations with Mauritania to the ambassadorial level and that they will exchange ambassadors very soon.
The official, who asked not to be identified, added that, "Alleviating the level of relations with Mauritania has a great significance, not only because Mauritania is a Muslim state but also because it is a member in the Arab League, which is an enemy of Israel."
Israel and Mauritania, since 1996 have established relations on the level of interest supervising departments.
